UPDATES ON HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN MAMBILA PLATEAU

Today 29th June, 2017, the Rural Health Mission Nigeria (RHEMN) team was able to visit 7 IDPs camps in the Mombila plateau in Sardauna LGA of Taraba State to provide basic medical services in 3 camps and distributes Emergency relief materials procured using the fund donated by our esteemed donors in all the 7 camps. The mission will continue tomorrow God willing.

Generally the security situation in Mombila plateau is now guaranteed and both parties are back on their normal day to day activities despite the loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira. Security agencies ranging from soldiers, mobile police, security and civil defence, SSS etc are present in all the affected areas to maintain law and order.

We properly assessed the humanitarian crisis and the level of suffering faced by the victims in their various camps. Large number of people are occupying about 16 camps as most of their houses are burned down by the criminals who caused the unrest… apart from the shelter and insufficient foodstuffs, the victims are faced with some health issues such as malaria fever, diarrhoea and vomiting, respiratory tract infections etc.

In a welcome development, following our prompt response and present in the field and the publicity we are providing on the issue, the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency and the office of the Taraba State Governor has responded by sending some relief materials to the area after about 14 days of the incident. We pray that the relief materials supplied by the State Government will be shared to the real victims at at the right time.

Meanwhile we are still soliciting for more donations to focus on health aspects of the humanitarian service as all the effort of the State Government only focused on relief materials. Our account details for the contribution remains as follows👇

*Bank Name: Zenith Bank*
*Account Name: Rural Health Mission Nigeria*
*Account Number: 1015085004*
*Swift Code: ZEIBNGLA*

May God bless your wealth and provide you with more as you attend to the pressing needs of the victims of the unfortunate incident in Mombila plateau.
