The Rural Health Mission Nigeria School Health Services Team visits Model Nursery school in the outskirt of Gombe to deliver free healthcare services. This services is part of the “Raise a Healthy Child” project of the organization which focuses on providing essential obstetric and paediatric health services in hard-to-reach or underserved communities with the aim of reducing maternal and child mortality in Nigeria.
In a one day visit, the team was able to deworm 78 pupils and administered vitamin A supplements to get the child rid of worms infestation, enhance nutrition for healthy growth, boost immunity against infections and strong eye sight. The team also screened the children for early eye defects with the view of making early recommendations for parents.
The next visit to this school will be in April 2018.
