RHEMN volunteers in partnership with the MPL swifts into action to assess the degree of damages and also the urgent need of the victims, about 24 affected communities in the plateau was visited. The team was able to assessed the number of displaced person’s and their immediate needs which ranges from foodstuffs, blankets, potable water, urgent treatment of wounded persons are the immediate needs. While Provision of medical services, prevention and management of malnutrition, clothing, psychosocial services, reconstruction of the damaged structures, negotiations and dialogue was identified as the long-term intervention.

The RHEMN subsequently launched an online and offline fundraising campaign in favour of the victims and some donors responded by donating money to the tune of seven hundreds and seventy seven thousand five hundreds naira (N777,500) only, against the N2.2 million estimates by our need assessment team. The RHEMN who happened to be the first and only Non Governmental Organization travel from its Headquarters in Gombe to Mambila plateau in Sardauna LGA of Taraba State to deliver the first batch of the emergency relief materials procured with the fund donated by the donors. RHEMN will soon publish the financial reports of the money spent on it website.

Due to the limited fund and the high number of the affected communities/person’s, the emergency relief materials was only distributed to the 14 communities out of 24 that was affected, also few IDPs camps received medical intervention during the mission on the Mambila plateau by the RHEMN emergency medical team.

Since Taraba State Government has recently intervened in terms of relief materials, the RHEMN team is currently planning for a mega medical mission to the victims of the crisis as soon as possible, we are also planning to conduct a roundtable peace dialogue between youths and community leaders of both parties in some selected communities.

You can support the mission by donating in cash or kind, we currently are in need of drugs, medical consumable and special food supplements for the prevention and management of malnutrition among the displaced who are being faced with humanitarian crisis.
